DHL handles the transport of a wide array of material for the Formula One™. These include: racing cars, engines, tyres, engine oil, tv equipment and general team equipment.
Some of the above mentioned materials need special conditionment and clear packing procedures in order to allow the teams to succesfully compete for the 19 Grand Prix´s this year.
Every F1 Team ships around 30 tons of material for every race. These 30 tons of material will travel an estimated 160,000 Km a year by sea, land or air.

DHL Express Luxembourg winner at the Luxembourg Green Business Summit 2013

DHL Express Luxembourg receives the «Green Team of the Year 2013» award with the program “Go Green in a team”

For the 3rd edition of the Luxembourg Green Business Summit organized by Greenworks, DHL Express Luxembourg has won the «Green Team of the Year» trophy. This prize emphasizes the implication of the employees in reducing the company´s carbon footprint in the Grand-Duchy.
The trophy, awarded by a jury of 50 CEO´s from Luxembourg, rewards a first phase of initiatives that has enabled DHL Express Luxembourg to reduce its carbon emissions by 54% for the 2006-2012 period.

“Go Green in a Team” is the slogan used by DHL Express Luxembourg to gather all employees around environmental projects. This same tagline was used to introduce the application to the jury. Erik Hermans, Managing Director DHL Express Luxembourg: “It´s with great pride that I accept this prize that rewards our team-work. Commitment, responsibility and passion are the key values that enable our employees to adhere to company objectives and to serve our customers successfully on a daily basis.”

Iran and Syria Sanctions Implementation

Iran is a UN sanctioned country. In compliance to the UN resolution, DHL Express shall not ship UN sanctioned and / or classified prohibited commodities to restricted countries.
Prohibited Items for Iran:
Weapons
Ammunition
Military vehicles
Military equipment including artillery systems, missiles, and warships
Military / attack aircraft or helicopters

Spare parts for the above mentioned items, including: dual use goods that are material, equipment, goods, and technology that can be used for nuclear programs, ballistic missile programs, and other weapons of mass destruction; this includes: enrichment related activities, reprocessing or heavy water related activities, or other activity for the development or delivery of nuclear weapon systems (including certain computers and software)

The following procedure due to UN Sanctions will be followed for each and every shipment going to Iran with immediate effect:

Shipper must sign an Indemnity Letter for every shipment sent with DHL

Le 2 Octobre, DHL Express Luxembourg a élargi son parc automobile avec 2 nouveaux "Sprinters Mercedes" courts et 8 longs, portant la flotte à un total de 27 véhicules Mercedes flambant neufs. A ce sujet, Pascal Juvan, Service Center Manager, a déclaré: «nous avons fait ces achats pour continuer à répondre aux attentes de nos clients. Dear Customer,

DHL Express takes advantage of the summer period to optimize the operational Day Definite network. Since 1st of August, your shipments DHL Economy Select are delivered in a more performant network creating other improvements, as:

- More check points and a better visibility on the website MyDHL
- A clearer billing indicating all the DHL offices which had made deliveries as for the Express service
- The application of the factor 1/5 for the calculation of the volumetric weight instead of the actual 1/4.
As a consequence, the new method of calculation is (length x height x width / 5000)

- Simplification of the customs procedures and the disappearance of the additional expenses of customs formalities for your DHL economy Select shipments to countries beyond the European Union

Findel : DHL plane, a technical issue at take-off

Following a technical issue at take-off, the flight between the Findel airport and our European hub in Leipzig (DE) has been cancelled on June 7th, 2011. The late hour combined with the airport opening hours did not give us a chance to action our contingency plan.

As a consequence, shipments destined to a large number of European countries as well as Asia and the United-States will suffer a 24 hours delay compared to the standard transit times.

This partnership is limited to an operitional re-organization of DHL Express and will be fully transparent for you. DHL Express will indeed continue to perform the majority of the Day Definite pick-ups as well as the commercial follow-up.

Ash cloud Grimsvötn has no service impact

So far the ash cloud produced by the Iceland volcano Grimsvötn has no impact on DHL’s European & intercontinental air network, with the exception of services to and from Iceland.

Until further notice we continue to pick up & deliver shipments, without limitations. DHL is closely monitoring the situation and has put in place a number of contingencies, should any disruption occur at any time.

Following the earthquake and consequent tsunami which severely impacted the North-east of Japan last week, please find below the latest update on our services:

DHL Express is taking all possible measures in order to restore its operations across Eastern Japan.

The degree of impact on our services varies by area:

Pick-up and delivery services in Tohoku Area continue to be suspended temporarily.
In Ibaraki Prefecture, pick-up and delivery services have resumed in limited areas.
In other parts of Kanto Area, we are providing pick-up and delivery services as usual.
Our pick-up/delivery services remain as per normal in Western Japan and the Chubu Area.

Following the press release issued yesterday in the news, we wish to offer you an alternate option for all your post items. Indeed, our GlobalMail Business services remain uninterrupted, except for the North East Areas in Japan.

Tsunami in Japan

Dear customer,

A tsunami has hit the coastline in north-eastern Japan last Friday, following a powerful earthquake, with 8.8 magnitude. Deutsche Post DHL extends its sympathy to the people that are affected.

First reports indicate that DHL staff is safe, although DHL buildings in Tokyo and along the east coast have been damaged.

DHL’s operations have been affected across north-eastern Japan and investigations are underway on the full extent of the impact. Meanwhile, a tsunami warning has been extended accross the Pacific.

Political situation in the Middle East and the Maghreb countries

Dear customer,

Despite the current situation, DHL is transporting shipments to and from Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Tunisia and Yemen.

DHL Hub operations at airports are operating as usual and we continue to offer pick-up and delivery services in these countries. However, certain areas remain challenging to access and some delay can be expected.

The situation in Libya is currently not clear and DHL has temporarily suspended Pick-up and Delivery and import/export operations in the country until further notice.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will update our customers as appropriate.

DHL Luxembourg extends his partnership contract with BBC Etzella

DHL Express, world leader of the express transport and the basket-ball club Etzella have signed a 3 years' extension of the existing partnership. This agreement has been signed during the Logistics Management Forum that recently took place at LuxExpo. It has been signed by Claude Hasldorf, President of BBC Etzella, Steve Schanet, Managing Director of DHL Global Forwarding and Erik Hermans, Managing Director of DHL Express Luxembourg.

Claude Halsdorf stressed out the duration of the partnership which started ten years ago. Erik Hermans explained the reasons of DHL's choice for BBC Etzella: « it is a team that like our company develops qualities like speed and precision. For 10 years, we are faithful in our choice to support a team we have strong and friendly relationships with.

DHL Express (Luxembourg) would like to congratulate the women and the men’s teams for their qualification for the final match of the Luxembourg Cup.
The women team of Etzella successfully defeated in semi-final the “Musel Pikes” who won the last championship of Luxembourg. They will play T71 Dudelange in final.
For the men’s team, they managed to qualify to the final beating “Helfingen”. In the final on the 2nd of April, they will compete against “Amicale”.

DHL Express is the Official Logistics Partner of Manchester United

DHL has signed a contract to become the Official Logistics Partner of Manchester United. DHL will undertake a range of logistics services on behalf of the club over three years.

The contract provides the opportunity for a wide range of integrated business-to-business and consumer marketing activities and events across many platforms including digital advertising perimeter boards, matchday programme, club website and selected events at Old Trafford.

DHL expands Express air route system between Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific

DHL Express has strengthened its leading market position in the global cross-border express business by introducing three new air express routes between Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

DHL launched new early connections from Hong Kong to Leipzig offering westbound DHL Express Worldwide next-day delivery service from one of the most important markets in the world.

The company also added the new Bangkok stop to its Leipzig-Singapore-New Delhi route to improve speed of delivery to the important Southeast Asian market.

Finally, the new Brussels to Bahrain route enables to serve a high-demand trade lane that connects European and American markets to the Middle East.

Last September, the Ministry for sustainable Development and Infrastructures has awarded DHL Express (Luxembourg) for the 4th consecutive year the quality label of the SuperDrecksKëscht fir Betriber.

The SDK certificate is granted to the companies for their ecological waste management. This quality label is certified in accordance with the internationally accepted ISO 14024:2000 standard. Since 2007, DHL Express (Luxembourg) has showed that it is continuously involved in its ecologic and economic waste management.

200.000 people run with DHL’s colors in Denmark

The world’s largest relay race took place in Denmark for the 26th consecutive year.
This sportive event is designed for companies where teams of five runners, run 5 kilometers each and hand over a baton at the finish line or at the starting point to the next person in the team to continue the relay.

More than 200,000 runners participated in this year’s race. The event also attracted thousands of visitors, colleagues and family members coming together to applaud the runners. Around half of DHL’s employees in Denmark participated as a runner or attended the event as a supporter.

This year, the 265 employees of DHL Denmark donated €1 to UNICEF for each kilometer ran. The global donation amounted to around €1.325.

As the relay is growing, it is planned that in 2011 Copenhagen and Aarhus will add one more day more to the schedule, bringing the 2011 participation to an impressive 240.000 people.

DHL Delivers Aid to Pakistan.

Following the heavy Monsoon floods that first hit the North of Pakistan, the country is now facing a similar impact on the South. As the floods sweep down from the North, thousands of Pakistanis seek refuge to escape the water and so increase the overall number of displaced people.

DHL Aviation has collaborate to deliver urgent relief cargo for those suffering from the devastating floods in Pakistan.

Two DHL wet leased A300Fs, carrying shipments of about 43 thousand kg each, flew medicine, medical kits, food/water supplies and tents to Pakistan on August 28 and August 30 to the flood affected areas.

In addition to this, DHL Express Pakistan has launched relief efforts on August 2, comprising the management of a donation drive from DHL staff worldwide and the setup of mobile medical camps at several villages around the Muzzaffar Garh district in the province of Punjab.

Sarfraz Siddiqui, CEO and Managing Director, DHL Express Pakistan, said: “This is a national tragedy; it is critical that each one of us responds with urgency and support that is tangible. DHL was the first to provide any form of relief to the villages around Muzzaffar Garh and we will continue to meet the needs of the affected persons. As one of the leading private sector organizations in the country, we hope that by leading by example, we can encourage other corporations to get involved in relief efforts as well.”

Frank Appel, Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Post DHL - the parent company of DHL - comments on the situation: "The situation in Pakistan is very serious and we hope we can support the ongoing relief efforts with our Disaster Response teams professionally as usual. "
